Batch Enzyme Reactor

A batch enzyme reaction system utilising the industrially important glucose isomerisation reaction (converting glucose to fructose), the BE1 demonstrates batch enzyme kinetics and enzyme characteristics.

The BE2 system demonstrates several varieties of low-pressure liquid chromatography such as ion-exchange and hydrophobic interaction. A range of separation methods are displayed, including particle charge and molecule hydrophobicity.

The C16 facilitates the viewing of the complex flow patterns associated with water flowing past solid objects or boundaries. The system uses the 'hydrogen bubble technique' to clearly show changes in the direction of the water.

Fluid Friction Measurements

The Armfield C6MkII provides facilities for the detailed study of fluid friction head losses which occur when an incompressible fluid flows through pipes, fittings and flow metering devices. For use with the Armfield F1-10 Hydraulics bench.

Gaseous Diffusion Coefficient Apparatus

Code: CERaMkII

Apparatus for investigation of mass transfer and gaseous diffusion has traditionally used a capillary tube in a hot water bath, with a travelling microscope used to measure the rate of diffusion over a period of time. Although capable of giving good results, this type of apparatus was not without its disadvantages, particularly ease of use.
